If you see the missing child with an adult, and have not received a ‘found’ message on your phone, what should you do?
If you see the missing child DO NOT ASSUME THAT THEY ARE A PARENT unless the found alert has been received, only the parent or guardian can do this.
Approach with caution or enlist the help of another if you feel uncomfortable.
Ask if the child is alright and remind the adult to send the found signal.
Be aware the child may have “chosen to run from an abusive parent”. Check that the child is fine and seems comfortable, if you have any concerns about the situation, call the police.
If in any doubt about anything, call for the help of others and the police. Remember that most phones have cameras now so do not hesitate to take a picture as this could prove invaluable should the situation become serious.
